Orders vs Commands

Do you know the difference between an order and a command?

The difference is this: an order is a direction to do something with an implied threat attached to it. A command is a direction to do something with no threats attached. It's really just that simple.

People do not mind being directed to do something. They are usually happy to carry out a command.

What people do not like are threats. They will get upset and will put up a lot of resistance when someone threatens them.

Don't try to be a drill sergeant. Keep the threatening tone out of your voice. Forget the "or else" part of directions.

Give commands: simple, pleasant directions to do something. You will have a much more cooperative group......and a lot fewer problems.
